Rose & Nash Get Baptized

We have been praying for Jessie and Craig for years hoping they would get their wish and get pregnant.  After many years of hoping for a baby, they got pregnant with twins.  Rose & Nash Doman entered the world 10 weeks earlier than expected and the prayers continued for a healthy life.  At 7 months old, they both are doing great and we celebrated their baptism this weekend.  We are honored to be Rose's Godparents and we look forward to being her spiritual guide.

Meet Norah Barbara Morse

We got to meet our new niece, Norah, while visiting in Pittsburgh.  She is very alert for being only a month old.  She was born on 4/16/12.  We love her so much!

Celebrating 2 in Pittsburgh

Grandma (Ma Ma) and Grandpa (Pa Pa) Morse threw Colton a spectacular bash in Pittsburgh with my family.  We had a cookout and cake to celebrate.  Lots stopped by including the Martins, the Demas', the Weilands, the Gunters, the Matthews, the Labuskes', the Davins, and the Gardners. Colton typically loves cake, but the digger on the top of the cake stole his attention.  He has been playing with the trucks ever since.  Thanks Mom and Dad for a fun weekend.

Keeping Cool in 90 Degrees

Back when I was a kid, a fun way to keep cool was a slip n' slide.  We would put water flowing from a hose down a thin yellow plastic path that would lay on the grass.  We would run really fast and slide down it to cool off.  You would end up sliding into the grass with bumps and scrapes from hidden rocks under the plastic. It was fun in theory and then it got kind of painful.  Our kids now have it made - say "goodbye" to thin yellow plastic and "hello" to blow up water fun slide.  It was so hot this weekend in Pittsburgh and the kids enjoyed what they coined the "water castle."  They didn't want to get out.

Colton Turns 2

Where last year I captured every day of Colton's life with a daily photo and email, this year I did it every month.  Here is my email to the group on 5/23.  What a year! Year 2 was even better than year 1. Colton continues to amaze us everyday with all the new things he does or is interested in. He still loves trucks - firetrucks as you know, but big over-sized construction vehicles are his current obsession. We have lots on our street right now due to some roadwork, and Colton says, 'dig dig.' But when he can't see them outside, he is watching them on YouTube. He is counting to 22 per his teachers yesterday, knows all his colors, his letters and is on his way to being bilingual. Well, he could be multilingual due to watching YouTube videos is German, Spanish, French, and Czech. Either way, his words sometimes sound foreign to us, but he is getting good at communicating. One of my proudest moments recently was reading a teacher's evaluation of Colt. She said that he is great during circle time and has become a role model for the other students. To all you teachers out there...there is nothing more fulfilling than hearing something positive about your kid. It made my day, week, and year. He still loves to pray at dinner together and claps when he's done. We started a nightly puppet show in Colton's crib with his stuffed animals. Daddy is always elephant and does an amazing impression that it makes us both laugh uncontrollably. It makes you realize that simple things in life can bring such joy and how seeing things through a two year old's eyes is currency for the soul. We love all of you and this little guy so much. Thanks for being a part of another year!

Kelli & Eric's Wedding

Nicole & Jay

Kelli and Eric got married on 5/19 at the Horticulture Center in Philadelphia.  It was a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding.  She looked gorgeous as she always does.  Brian couldn't be there to celebrate since he was in San Diego for work.  It would have been fun to have him there, but I had the best time anyway because of the above ladies.  I spent my college years enjoying days and nights with the above Kappas.  Our lives are far more hectic than those years of juggling just classes, the dining hall, and sorority events, so it makes it far more exciting to see them and catch up.  I love them even more with every visit.  Congratulations Kelli and Eric!

Morris with the Morses

My parents spent the week with us to visit with Colton and help out when Brian went on a work trip. Colton and I took a day off and we went on a field trip to the Morris Arboretum.  We figured it would be an appropriate place since being a Morse, we have always been miscalled Morris. We toured all around the arboretum - the tree house, the robin's nest, the fernery, and enjoyed all the gardens.  It was an awesome day and a super fun week spending time with my parents.  They are welcome to come back and stay any time.

My Favorite Holiday

The weekend started off awesome with a Mother's Day Tea at the Kiddie Academy.  I was a half and hour late, so I didn't really get any tea, but I enjoyed sitting with my little guy and starting the weekend off a little earlier than normal.  Mother's Day is my favorite.  It is better than any birthday or holiday out there.  Carry around a kid and you get welcomed and offered well wishes for 24 hours. Brian, Colton, and Val didn't disappoint.  I had a long walk with Colton on this beautiful morning, Brian made us an amazing breakfast, and we celebrated some more at dinner with Bob, Mary, Mr. Kenney, and the kids.  It was perfect.  I love being a mom.

Copper Beach Fair

We spent the afternoon at the local elementary school fair.  When Colton is old enough to go to school, this is where he will go.  It is walking distance from our home.  Colton loved the music at the fair and danced in circles.  He wanted so bad to play basketball, so Brian got him up to the net for what eventually was a slam dunk.  We saw his good friend Keira and they played the apple toss into the pigs mouth.  He exclaimed - "Peeg!" On our way out, Colton fell and hit his head - he has a nice egg on the front of his head, but nothing a little Popsicle couldn't cure.

Keswick Village First Friday

This past Friday was First Friday in Glenside.  My neighbor and I made our guys join us for what we hoped would be a fun evening out.  Thomas looked forward to riding in the wagon with Colton.  We hit up a few local shops, drank some free wine, and snacked on some chips and dip.  Colton's favorite part was watching the Irish dancers at Penny's Flowers.  He wanted so much to dance with them.  It really wasn't much of a night and would have been far more exciting with more alcohol in our systems.  We ended up at the local supermarket and bought a bunch of premade food and stuffed our faces when we got home.  Not exactly what we had hoped, but it was fun to walk around and enjoy the evening together.
