Sunday 4PM EST...

vs.

We will not be talking to each other. We will post our bragging rights on Sunday night.

Luke's Baptism

Today was Luke Kenney's baptism. Jim came in from Colorado since he has the honor of being his Godfather. Too bad Luke will never get to know his Godfather since Jimmy rarely comes in to see us. Mary, Ava, Jimmy, Tara and Luke, and BobBob & Mary's FamilyThe Kenney ClanMr. Kenney was showing Ava who Jesus is. We think he secretly was wanting to be the Priest sitting up there at the alter. Rylie and Ava playing in the church. They ran all around pointing out all the colors in the stainglass windows. This was just one moment when they were standing still.

Happy 89th Birthday Gramps

It was my Grandpa's 89th birthday on Sunday. The crew in town gathered to celebrate at Manorcare (the nursing home my Gramps is staying at while he adjusts to his new hip). Gramps got all of his favorite things - hard candy, a book, and t-shirts with pockets. Simple...but the man knows what he likes.

He made his wish and blew out the candles that symbolized 89 years. He took a while to make his wish...long enough where we thought we had to remind him to blow out the candles. While he may be 89, he is still a man with purpose, and with that, he took his time to make his wish count.

I didn't ask what his wish at 89 was. For those who know my Grandpa, he is quite the accomplished man. And if you read the blog, you will know that with all his accomplishments and his perspective on life, he is 'my hero.' But he has had quite a physical struggle over the years, and what I love about him is that nothing seems to be too much where he can't overcome it. A good example for us all.

So while I wish he wished for a year of good health or to heal quickly and comfortably from his new hip surgery, knowing him, he probably wished for something thoughtful or generous that doesn't involve him at all.

So...using my 'force' powers via the internet. I am asking that you all join me in sending healing powers to my Gramps so he can go to the shore. See picture below of him and my Grams two years ago in Stone Harbor. While he may not have wished for it for himself, he really wants to go - so as soon as he is all better, we're going to go!

A Morning Stroll

We headed to the park early in the morning on Sunday so I could get to spend more time with Dave, Ellen, and Alana before I headed back to Philly. As soon as they got there, Alana ran to the swings for a quick ride and then we walked the park while Alana dined on Cheerios.

10 Reasons

I made an impromptu trip to the Burgh this past weekend. Sometimes I just need that 'fix' - so I booked a flight on Thursday and was in the Burgh on Friday night.

My top 10 reasons why I love going home are:
10) The expression on my parents' face when they pick me up at the airport.
9) My bed at home - best bed EVER!
8) Visiting with my best friend Jessie and her husband Craig.
7) Walking in the park.
6) My grandparents.
5) Getting to see my family.
4) Meals made by mom - there is nothing like mom's home cookin'.
3) Some sort of workout with my dad - a bike ride, yoga, or a hike.
2) The important feeling I get when people seem excited to see me - come on, it's the closest feeling I get to feeling famous.
1) And my absolute favorite - my God daughter ALANA!

An UnFURgettable Experience

I was in Atlanta for a meeting and one night we all went out on the Fur Bus. "What is a Fur Bus?" you may ask. Well, it is basically a way more fun limo-style bus. You see, only in Atlanta do they have a school bus that is painted and decorated with fur, feathers, animal prints, and lights. The Fur Bus had a super sound system with every song you could imagine. It was a wild ride! Lots of dancing, singing, and drinking of course. If you are ever in Atlanta - check it out furbus.com. Pictures are of us getting the bus ready for the night.

Nationals Park

One of our goals is to visit as many ballparks as we can. Together we have been to Camden Yards in Baltimore, AT&T Park in San Francisco, PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Coors Field in Denver, and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Brian has also been to Yankee's Stadium, but I don't count anything that we haven't been to together.

But I must admit there is nothing better than going to a ballpark when one of the teams playing is the Phillies. We love baseball and the Phillies. On Labor Day we took the train down to Washington, D.C. to visit Nationals Park and watch the Nats (that's what they call them down there) play the Phillies. We had awesome seats (6 rows away from the National's Dugout). I also rate seats on how good you can see Chase Utley's ass - picture below for you to judge.

While the Phillies couldn't pull off a win to the worst playing team in the Eastern Division of the National League - we still had a great time. We walked all over, drank lots of beer and ate our standard ballpark grub. Very clean ballpark (a little empty) and really nice. If you have the chance you should go because you will really enjoy it.

Brian and I are hoping for another division win this year. While I am very optimistic, Brian is another story...but we won't let that energy come through on this post. Go Phils!

Just Because

Just because I love seeing these two together - here is another post with the two of them and Ava in her standard spot (on Val).

Top of the Hill

This is just a little shout out to our favorite stop after our Saturday hike. The Top of the Hill has our favorites...Brian gets the Chicken Salad Club Melt on Brioche with Cheddar Cheese (always) and I mix it up with either their Paella, Fresh Cooked Fish, Ann Marie's Favorite Sandwich, or anything else that catches my attention. Nothing really else exciting to say here...but this place is very much a part of our routine. And maybe they will at least acknowledge that I am in there every freaking Saturday and remember what I am going to get.

Ava's First Hike

We've been telling Ava how Val loves to go swimming after a hike so Bob decided to bring Ava along on our Saturday morning tradition. Bob mentioned that Ava had been saying all week, "Bian, Juwie, Wal Wal" over and over again until Saturday morning when they left. It was Ava's first hike and while I don't have a picture, Ava actually did most of the hiking - pink shoes and all. The trail is under some construction so there are little pink and blue flags along the path. Ava kept running up to the flags saying, "Ava have pink flag?" Pictured above is Ava watching Val swim. Ava seemed to enjoy it and it took all our attention to make sure she didn't jump in with her.
