Sweet Treat

Sometimes the days get away from you with work, chores, and everyday needs.  Too many days had come between us getting to see our good friends Christina, Travis, and Patrick.  It was a sweet treat to get together again after 3 months.  They had a perfect Fall feast of pulled pork sandwiches, mac & cheese, and salad. The boys had fun watching the little guys and Christina and I caught up on everything.  Colton and Patrick ended the night focused on their ice cream cones.

Laurie Visits

Since Laurie couldn't make it to the BBQ a few weekends ago, she joined us this Friday for dinner and drinks.  We caught up on each of our lives and enjoyed the company. At the end of the night, Colton said, "I love you, Rory."

NBC Tour

SNL - where the bands play
SNL - testing the lighting for "Weekend Update"
Me, Beth, Matt, Pam, & Kimberly
Beth, Kimberly, Me, Pam, & Gina - Today Show Studio
We are collaborating with NBC on some work initiatives and had a meeting in NYC last week. We got a special private tour of the studios of NBC.  We saw the NFL pregame studio, which is where they had also done Jeopardy back when Art Fleming was the host and Rosie O'Donnell had her show.  We went to see the SNL studio and sat in the original seats back when the show was created.  And we ended our tour at the Today Show. It was a fun day that ended with dinner and drinks at the Soho House and the following day going to America's Got Talent - I gave my ticket to a colleague to enjoy (and she ended up getting in the front row behind the judges).  She deserved it!

They Take the Train - Just Like Us

Braydon Coburn, Jody Shelley, Scottie Hartnell - Philadelphia Flyers
If you ever read US Weekly, you are familiar with the "Stars Are Just Like Us" section.  It shows stars shopping in a grocery store, feeding their kids, going on family vacations...you know, things we all do. Anyway, I was on my way to NYC for a work meeting and arrived at 30th Street Station.  I had circled the parking garage like 10 times trying to find an open space and I got to the top of the garage and saw Scott Hartnell getting out of a car. Without even thinking and with multiple cars behind me, I jumped out of my car and asked the guys if I could take a picture of them for my husband.  They said "sure" and asked if I had followed them all the way from Hatfield.  I later stood behind them in line for the train and had a smile as big as theirs the remainder of the day.

Happy Birthday Pop Pop

We celebrated Pop Pop's 81st birthday last Sunday with Aunt Roz, Bob, Mary, and the kids.  It was a beautiful day, we had a delicious dinner, and the kids had lots of fun playing together. We love Pop Pop.

Labor Day Breakfast

We had breakfast with Mr. Kenney and Jim before Jim headed back to DC.  Colton was extremely happy with his chocolate chip muffin top, milk, and company until I made him get in the picture.  We love Uncle Jimmy and miss his company already.

Yoga Instructor In Training

We told Colton that Uncle Jimmy was coming up for the weekend and he got very excited.  He said, "Yippee" and "Hooray!" Jim had just finished his intense training to become a yoga instructor and as a side job, he already has two gyms hiring him to teach classes.  He showed us many of his moves and talked about his first class he taught.  Colton jumped in and imitated him on moves like - downward dog, happy baby, and this new one we coined as "monkey on your back."

Who's Missing

The entire crew
The Kenney guys and Aunt Roz

We made up an excuse for good friends/family to get together - celebrate Laurie's return to PA after living in CA for years.  Laurie wasn't feeling well the day of the party, so she didn't end up making it, but we all had a great time anyway and were glad we all got together during the holiday weekend.

Family Time & Ferns

Colton's school was closed on Friday, so we spent the morning at the Morris Arboretum.  Colton ran all over the place and investigated all the fun little places made especially for little people like him. We walked close to the fernery and Colton pointed and said, 'fish.' He had remembered there were koi fish in there (and we hadn't been there for months). There are so many things your kids do that are all so normal, but to a parent it just feels so amazing. Colton apparently has super memory to me. We had a nice day together!
