Uncle Jim - For Real
Jim was in DC for work and was able to stop up to Philly for about 18 hours to celebrate Bob's 40th birthday. Bob's birthday is in December, but Mary threw a party a few weeks early. It worked out great since Jimmy got to come. We don't get to see Jimmy that often so we headed out to Bob & Mary's to spend some time with everyone. Bob told us a funny story about what Ava said on their way to pick Jim up at the train. Ava wanted to see the train come in, but Bob said she wouldn't be able to see it. So Ava said, "Is it a pretend?" Bob said, "no." And then Ava said, "Is Uncle Jim pretend?" I probably got it a little wrong, but we thought that was funny since we don't get to see him that often and she wondered if he was pretend.

Our Lime-Sized It
I have hated being pregnant so far - ask Brian (or anyone else for that matter). I've been the biggest complainer on the face of the Earth...considering all the women who have gone through this very similar experience. But the one thing I absolutely love is getting to see our baby on an ultrasound. It is my absolute favorite! Brian and I check a website every week that tells us how big the baby is and they always compare it to a type of food. This week we call Baby Kenney, "Limey" because that is how big they say it is (the size of a Lime).
I'm 12 weeks and 4 days today and will be approaching the 2nd trimester very shortly. We can't wait to find out what sex the baby is and will let you all know. In the meantime, enjoy the picture of our lime-sized it.

Reunited
One of the greatest things about Facebook is it gives you a chance to reconnect with really good friends that you lose touch with as life goes on. That's the case with Natalie - a really, really good friend from high school who I reconnected with on FB. Nat stopped by to catch up after 17+ years last week and it was so very good to see her. We really enjoyed Nat's company and introducing her to Val-e-Val-e-Val. Nat is an avid dog lover so Val had no problem demonstrating her lap-dog tendencies. We look forward to keeping in touch with Nat, especially Val!

Secret Love
Since I have been working from home, I have had the pleasure to take Val on her afternoon walks. Every day around 12:30 we would pass the postal truck at the end of the street, and every day Val would pull me toward it to just about jump in the truck. For the first few weeks I thought it was cute that Val just thought it was Brian's jeep and wanted to go for a ride.
Then one day, we caught the postman coming out of the postal truck. I, of course was embarrassed at how Val was pulling me toward the truck, and before I could tell him that the truck must remind Val of my husband's Jeep - the postman pulled out a treat and said, "Hi Val."
A ha! It all finally fell into place. The postman had said he has been giving Val a treat for the past few weeks when our dog walker would take her on her afternoon walk. So now it all made sense. I'm telling you, it is like a love fest! At lunch when we pass 2-3 postal trucks on the walk, you would think that her heart is breaking as we round a corner and the truck goes out of sight. She just keeps pausing to look back in hopes it will reappear - handing out a treat. I've even caught her pretending to scratch her neck to sneak a peek back in the distance.
It's kind of weird our dog is in love with the postal truck, but it still makes me giggle everytime she pulls me toward one.

Happy Halloween 2009
Bob, Mary, Ava and Luke swung by on Halloween to show off their costumes. Ava was a pony in the picture below, but we heard she also sported a Dorothy, witch, and Daffy Duck costume before the night was over. Luke was a lion. And what you can't see from the picture is how hot that lion suit was and he kept it on until Uncle Brian got home to see it.
